I am currently testing the checkout process thru my magento store and paypal sandbox with dummy orders.

After a guest or logged in customer makes a purchase from the store, it seems magento does not send an email (order confirmation) to the purchaser… only when i log into the admin and “invoice” or “ship” the order does magento sent an email advising the customer of the same… i know once the store is live, paypal will confirm the purchase with an email from their side…

Also i know there is a function on the order page to “notify” the customer of the order status eg: Paypal Pending but again seems to be a manual “switch” to send an email…

Is the any option in the admin to have the store send an “auto-email” the the customer after checkout is complete…

I want to create my personal website and i have problems in adding up eft navigation. i tried a lot of times this whole week with no luck. i still cant remove the dog with the laptop either. Im a novice when it comes to this so please bear with me. i need a detailed guide, step by step process for webdumb. If not step by step, i get lost in a whirlwind of terminologies and ended up ruining my previous work. so i always walk back but the problem is im stucked and cannot move on. i want to do it hands on as im just beginning to familiarize myself. please help me i would greatly appreciate it.

I need to use my store in one country only so i do not need Multi Country options in any part of my store .

so i have been thinking of tweaking Magento 1.4.0.1 to replace countries with regions and replace regions with localities to make shipping options more specific

Customer will choose his region —— > then will choose his locality

i can do that from MySql but i,m afraid of it would make conflicts with shipping modules or methods in the future if i needed them

so i need and expert who can advice me how can i make this tweak safely .

I’m trying to get some order information to set some javascript values on the checkout confirmation page. I’ve tried both inserting the javascript directly, and putting it in a separate page and creating a block in the checkout.xml. What I’m noticing is that the javascript seems to be stripped out of that page. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? I’m able to set the variables in the other pages, so I’m not sure what would be different about this step.

First post here…I’ve been building websites in Microsoft-land for over 10 years now (asp and .net) and have a client who is moving to Magento. So far I’m really liking what I see on the platform. Anyway, here’s my question…

My client wants historic order and customer data imported into Magento before the site goes live. I see how I could import customers using a CSV and System>Import/Export, but what about orders? I don’t even see support for it in the API, so is this something where you have to figure out the db schema and import directly to it?

Any help would be appreciated.

The user guide states that HTML Head should be displayed here too. I am logged in as admin and I am using version 1.3.2.4

I am wondering how to rearrange the blocks in the right column of my site , i am using the absolute skin from magentoconnect and i cant understand how to get the cart to the top of the column etc, i have looked at some tutorials but they are based around other skins and i find its not the same process for this absolute skin.

I upgraded to Magento 4 the other day and i am having the following issue, can anyone shed some light on this.

when you go to System > Transactional Emails > New Email Template
In the previous version you would click on a template in the “Load default template” section and then click “Load Template”, the template would then load in the “Template Information” section, now with version 4 the template information does not show up.

Anyone able to help?

I am new to Magento but find it very good and quite simple to use, however, I was wonderinf if anyone knows of a plugin or bit of code that will allow my customers to Search by Filter?

What I mean by that is the type of search were you normally have a few dropdown boxes, for example;

If i was an Ink and toner company i might have, Maunufacturer, then Series/Type/Model, then printer name.

Here is an example on this website As you can see there is a section to select your printer in the first dropdown box, when u select a manufacturer another box apears to chooser the series and then finally the last box not only allows you to select the printer model but takes you to the relevant page.

Does anyone know of such a plug in? is there one already in Magento?

I have a multiple store running on Magento 1.3.2.
Most of the stores are suited for Czech Republic, so the base currency is set to Czech Crown. But there is one store for United States.
So I set currency to dollar for the US store, but the changes doesn´t appear in public section and I can still see that the price si shown with Czech Crowns, instead of US Dollars. I set the currency for US shop web, and US shop view and turned off cache – but with no change – I can still see tha base price, instead of dollars
Any ideas, where can be the problem?

I’ve been trying to import some products from a really big .csv file.
The file itself is about 15Mb, with attributes containing lots of plain text.

I’ve found out smaller lines are processed fine and heavier ones aren’t.
The threshold is about 10kb per line (though, not totally sure about it).

I’ve made some experiments:
1) when I add some arbitrary text to smaller lines, that were processed fine before, they stop being imported;
2) no matter where I delete text from the line, it’s imported fine only if its size is less than that certain limit: I can delete a couple of attributes, or some text from every attribute—it works fine anyway.
3) adding tons of text via web interface works perfectly, so that’s not a problem with magento itself, but with a way it handles importing;

I have a client that i would like to put on great Magento system.
They have bunch of product files in xml (over 20,000) and they are in 2 languages.

What i got so far:
1) I got 1 website, 1 store and 2 views (for 2 languages).
2) Also have all required catalog structure laid down.

What i would like to know here is best/fastest way to properly get all of this into magento using import tool.
Please share your experience about importing it via CSV file.

The website i am building is for diamond blades and cutting tools…

Basically I want to make something on the homepage that simply asks what material they’re cutting and what tool they’re using and filters the results with the attributes attached to the products…

Would you need ajax for this or would just javascript be needed… i never had to make something like this before… Any help is greatly appreciated

I was on a shared hosting was told to move on to the dedicated due to cpu usage. Well I did move to the dedicated and seemed to be working fine.

But suddenly it started hittting maximum cpu usage.

Currently using 73%

It is a developement site hardly getting any user. When we get a visitor cpu usage going to 100%

Any ideas or recommendations?

I’ve got an attribute set up as frontend_input   checkbox

When I load up that object in the admin area, the checkbox doesn’t load up checked if it was saved in the checked state.

Anybody else running into this? Or am I doing something wrong?
