i am try to modify app\design\frontend\default\default\template\catalog\product\view.phtml and is working everywhere in my local as well as other 2 servers.

my problem is it is not working on another server even the same page and XML is updated.

change made on app\design\frontend\default\default\template\catalog\product\view.phtml file is not even calling.

i had rename the above file to view.phtml.bak but it is still loading default product page layout. i have cleared cache after changing the layout, every tries which need to change layout is done but still not getting any of my changes.

mainly app\design\frontend\default\default\template\catalog\product\view.phtml this file is not calling!!! don’t know why?

to get worked my design change on product page i have to update XML layout in admin.

I am new to Magento. My site is for belts and customer can select various attributes – color, buckle type, stitch color etc.

I want to add images to each color, each buckle type etc so that customer can see the color, the buckle etc and choose.

In the attribute configuration I dont see an option to add an image to each attribute. How can I do this? Is this possible?

I want to add functionality like, when I add products I can give them tags so they go to specific web stores. Can the whole website be based of tagged items? Rather then adding products to each store can it just search our database of products and add the products that fall under its category?

Any one has idea how can i achieve this??

I’m new to Magento i have create a few webshops in OScommerce before but now i wanna try something new so i have found Magento.

But i was wondering can Magento be used as a Stock “image” site?

Lets say i wanna sell high res. images is it possible to have a category with some nice big frames? i don’t like all the small product frames i keep seeing over and over again.
I also wanna delete the shipping costs and give my customers an option to download the product..

I have been looking in the ShowOff topic maybe somebody has done it before and showed it on this forum but i wasn’t lucky.

Thats why i wanna ask it over here.

Maybe some experience Magento people can tell me what extensions i need for my stock-shop.

I have the following situation: For our online-bookshop I have created an attribute called author. Now, I would like to be able to have a link on any product-page. E.g. on the product-page of a book by J.N. Darby I want to have the author’s name converted to a link to the advanced search result page, for author J.N. Darby.

The problem is that I need the ID for the option to achieve that. I know, how to get the option value via getAttributeText(’author’), but how do I get the corresponding ID?

Can anybody help me with that?

I have an issue at the moment that is – I have products and categories and on the homepage I can see: “Store Catalog” in its litle block space however nothing underneath? Could anyone advise how to get my categories to actually appear there!?

I am also struggling to see the chains of products like: home/category1/product1 etc.. I dont see this.. What is it I am doing wrong?

Apologies if this has been covered previously. I have a web store in three languages, and I would like to send out notification mail in English, German and Italian. I have read that sometimes the email does not go out at all, but that is not the case here, mail in English is being sent. However, when I change the locale/language for the email notification, the loading mail is still in english.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to download a language pack? Apologies if this has been covered previously. I’m currently making a webshop, where some of the customers have special discount agreements. This is set up in the catalog pricerules settings, as general discount on all SKU’s. My problem is that some of the products have different max discount which is allowed to be given. Is it possible to insert an attribute, which is a max possible discount in percentage and then define in catalog price rules, that if the field is blank use general discount rules or in other cases use the discount in the field?

I’m facing an issue with polls in different languages. Here on my site: I have 2 store views: English and Arabic.

on the English store view: batteryland.net, the poll appears in English and on the Arabic store view: the poll appears in arabic.

However, if you try to make a vote, you will see that it counts each poll individually (it does not store the answers in the same db); although -logically- they should both point to the same db values.

I have created this poll by navigating to CMS>Manage polls. then I created 2 different polls, one for the arabic and another for the english store view… How can I possibly tell magento that both polls are the same (but in different languages)?

I keep getting American people order things from us in the UK they can buy much cheaper in the States. More often than not, despite the .co.uk and the £ sign, they didn’t realize it wasn’t dollars. We cancel those orders.

I want to allow the US as a country in Magento because we get cases where the billing address is there but the delivery address is here.

How can I allow a country for billing purposes but block it for delivery purposes?

Is it possible to do online courses with Magento? I am trying to build a site that offers video courses and the user will have access to the video for the course for which they have purchased but not the others. Basically it would not have a “members” area but have access limited only to the videos that they have paid for. These will not be downloads.

Suggestions?

When I view my catalog of products I have the options which allow me to show a certain number of items per page, sort alphabetically etc. This appears above the grid of produts as well as below the grid.

How do I remove the option from the bottom but keep them at the top?

I have a voucher worth $100, in example. If I buy something worth $60, tax worth is $12 and shipping is $10, voucher will only apply to product cost, not to shipping and tax? I’ve configured tax in configuration -> sales -> tax and configured voucher to “fixed ammount discount to whole cart”, but still voucher only gets applied to product, and the customer needs to pay tax and shipping. Any way to make this work?

I need some informations about the newsletter module.

1- On my home page I’ll get an input where we can set an email, and when we click on the button “ok”, it opens a little popup to say if the registering has been ok or not.
Which method do I have to use to add someone to the newsletter ?
I’ll use javascript to validate my form, how will I call php inside js ?
Will I have to use ajax ou there are others methods ?

2- The user can also click on a newsletter link which send him to a page where there will have a form to subscribe.
Question from a noob, how do I create a new page that even not exist yet ?

3- Does it exist tutorials about the subscribe to a newsletter ?
