We have a shipping application we’ve been using for years (back in the oscommerce days) and have updated it to work with Magento now. It’s a tool we use since we get 30-50 orders a day for 3-10 items on each order… this is a real time saver as it handles the paper work and postage and labels and all. Best of all it’s super fast and there is never any waiting on the application like there is in the web interface of Magento. We use this tool all day every day for years now and it allows one shipper to handle much more then they would otherwise.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was any interest in the community here to see us release this tool for a modest price. I welcome your input.

I upgraded manually and my field to set the product price is now gone. It’s showing up as a mandatory field in the Attrubute Set I’m working with, but does not show up when adding or modify a product. The only way I can modify a product price is from the Product List screen, clicking the check box next to the product and then “Update Attributes”.

I got my host setup ok, and it meets the requirements.

After installing, I browsed to the downloader intro page and clicked “Start the download process”

It has downloaded a bunch of files, looks ok – but now has stopped for over 10 minutes at this line:

“install ok: channel://connect.magentocommerce.com/core/Interface_Install_Default-1.2.1”

Now nothing seems to be happening.
- if i try to refresh my page, it warns me that there are PEAR processes running, and confirms if I really want to navigate away (so i did not)

- but nothig is happening…..any advice please?

I have upgraded to 1.2.1.1.

Under Catalog > Manage Products > the individual product

The wording of the old option was “Not available for purchase with Google Checkout.” and the default setting was (NO)

Now…the option wording is: “Is product available for purchase with Google Checkout” and the default setting is (NO)

My problem is, all of the products that were available to use Google Checkout, are now the not available, and with several thousand products, I’m screwed…until I can go in a dig in the code, which I don’t have time to do right now.

Issue #10572 seems to be the problem here. Yes, it was resolved, unfortunately, I need some form of immediate resolution on this. I guess that is what I get for attempting to be an early adopter.

I am an indepedent e-commerce consultant currently contracted to a leading UK ecommerce supplier. As part of my remit, I am currently researching a number of open source ecommerce platforms that my client can adopt as a base platform and extend (through in-house development) into a commercial product. Magento is on my list

I would like to know the following:

1. Are there any legal implications or restrictions my client needs to factor if they want to extend the platform?

2. Must any extensions my client creates in house be made available to the wider community? If so, are there any stipulations on the pricing or licensing model they can offer?

3. Can my client charge for customisation, set up etc?

4. Must my client state ‘powered by Magento’ on any site they build using Magento?

I understand a commercial license may address some of these points but there is little information available on your site and nobody answers the Varien phone or returns any messages. There is also a lack of clarity around OSL and AFL and how this would affect the possibilities from a legal perspective.

I’d be grateful for a quick response. My client has significant budget allocated and is ready to go. We just need a few answers in order to make a decision.

I am testing with a 1.1.8 version installed on my local laptop, Windows Vista.

I am tryng to install some extensions and to upgrade the system to the new 1.2.1 release. I run the process: it dowloads the packages (i can see them in the pearlib/download folder). The process compltes without errors. I managed to clear cache and session deleting files in var subfolders.

When I get back to the admin, I see no changes. I wonder if it is just a system problem (Windows machine) or I am missing something more.

first of al.. thank you for reading this topic

now, this is kinda hard to discribe. but i have been trying to find somwthing relating my situation an just can not seem to find it.

What i am trying to do is as follow.

a webshop with a 3 block front.
1 shows the current product
2 show a select box
3 cashregister(standard functionality so no problem here)

in block 2 people should be able to select en kind of t-shirt. like long sleev, colour. this i want done bij comboboxes
when they select te basicsstuf i want the picture to shop up in block 1 and the price so far in de cashregister.

then they can add more options, like a custom print on the shirt.

witch will show a different picture and will add an amount to the cashregister.

now, my question, is this possible. i can someone set me on the right course?

When the end user use the IE 6.0.2800.1106, he cannot add the product to basket or only can add 1 item to basket. We have two customer use IE 6.0.2800.1106, and they all have the same problem. this problem happened again and again, is there anyone meet this kind of problem?

I’ve tried and tried again and again(maybe 50 times) I get nothing!
in the oscommerce tools:

Create under default website

Website Code – base

Timezone – eastern new york

Database Connection Charset – UF8

Database Data Charset – Latin1

I checked CATEGORY and PRODUCTS for import

I click start running and the popup window I get:
Starting profile execution, please wait…
Warning: Please don’t close window during importing/exporting data
Categories processed 0% 0/20 records
Waiting FOR EVER and nothing is happening
I would like to import 20 categories and about 600 products

For me to migrate to Magento I will need to import all my product!
what is wrong with the tool??

I’m definitely new to working with magento and anything phtml, and I’ve read through all the user guides, and I’ll lay out my problem as simply as this:

I’m working from the sample store in the magento 1.21 download. I’ve designed a top navigation menu with HTML/Java in the past and liked its aesthetic, but can’t figure out what file(s) in the magento store I need to tinker with to make a similar one. I imagine they’re just css, but I can’t even find the file(s) that reference the css to begin with. top.phtml is the closest thing I can find but that doesn’t tell me anything or lead me anywhere.

Basically, I’d like the top navigation to look very similar to this: http://www.templatemonster.com/magento-themes/22847.html

Where do I find the file(s) to achieve these changes?
Or even the files that access those files.

I recently installed Magento, imported my products, configured google analytics, paypal, customized the look and feel, etc. Everything went relatively easily. Love Magento!

However, I have about 1400 products in my database and I have to update the quantity information every 2 hours. No problem, I wrote a little script that will download the information from my inventory control software and creates a Magento specific import file.

BUT! The magento import process, in my opinion, is ridiculously slow! It works great, but it becomes almost useless because it takes almost an hour for it process 1400 products and update the inventory levels.

Now it takes me less then a second to export this data from my inventory control system. For the import to take this long is really unacceptable, in my opinion.

So, I would like to know if anyone could point me in the right direction to bypass Data Flow and import directly into the database. What tables are in play here? I’m reasonably certain that I can write a query, or number of queries, that would do the job in seconds.

Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated!

For instance… I am creating a configurable product such as gaming computer in the sample magento data.

It would be nice to have links for more information about the 4-5 different options which are actually simple products.

More info: I am creating mostly simple products. These simple products are used to create a bundled product. Each individual product listed in the bundle only has the part number. Can we make these part numbers a hyperlink to actually view these products.

At dell.com for instance if you build a computer as the options in their bundled products appear to the right of each line there is a hyperlink “more info”.

How can we do this in magento?

I have checked all of the INI files and made sure all of the DLLs are included for php. I followed the steps shown in the Install on Xampp article listed above.

However I cannot get past the Configuration page and I get no error so I can’t tell what’s failing.

Host is localhost.
I have created the database.
I have the correct username and password.
No table prefix.
The base URL is correct.
Admin path is specified.
No other web access options are checked.
Have tried both filesystem and database for saving session data.

I am getting this red error message “Expected response code 200, got 404” when I modify products and then click save and continue edit, instead of the green message that my save was successful on the top of the page. While my changes seemed to work, were saved, I have no idea what the message is trying to tell me.

I only started getting this message after I upgraded to v 1.2.1 from 1.2.01

Any ideas?

I found two bugs.I downloaded magento 1.1.8 from magento’s svn,when I have upgraded from 1.1.8 to 1.2.1 via magento-connect,it causes some bugs.
The first one is on the dashboard,when click on the “Most Viewed Products” or “ New Customers” or “ Customers”,it redirects a new page.
The seconde one is,on admin panel,sales->create new order,when I select a customer,no matter how many times I click it,it actions nothing.
Final,I download a magento 1.2.1 pakage,and I copy several direciries from it to my magento,including “app\design\adminhtml”,”app\code\core\Mage\Adminhtml”,”app\code\core\Mage\Admin”,”app\code\core\Mage\Sales”,then the bugs are fixed.

I think maybe the files are diffrent between magento’s svn and magento’s pakage,and the files from svn is not stable.
What’s your option,guys?

Tried to upgrade my 1.1.8 installation earlier to be greeted by a screen telling me i have insufficient write permissions….

After trawling the forums, i fixed this problem and onto the Magento Connect manager….

Clicked on “Check for Upgrades” and nothing came up, so i pasted the key “magento-core/Mage_All_Latest” which i was told to do…

The report screen scrolled lots of things, and said it had finished….

I then pressed refresh, and all i got was a blank page…..

… and thats still all i get now….. When trying to click on the magento connect manager, i just get a blank page!

I notice in my browser it says “http://www.domain.co.uk/magento/downloader/?return=http://www.domain.co.uk/store/index.php/admin/”

And thats it

I’ve got a half live store and i dont know what to do next – been looking for hours.

As I’ve been entering test data into our Magento installation I’ve been forced to enter an SKU for configurable products, even though that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I finally went to the attributes settings for SKU and discovered that I could make it optional for product types, although the default for this is manditory for all product types.

Is there any reason to have an SKU for configurable or grouped products? How about virtual or downloadable?

And what about other attributes like Price and Tax Class? Shouldn’t all attributes other than the name and description type stuff, and associated products, be drawed from the products that make up a configurable product?

I’m hoping someone who knows PHP better than I do , can help. I’m trying to modify a script I have to filter output only to items that are saleable (ie, items not marked out of stock).

I know that I need to somehow call the function “isSaleable”, and add a filter. But I don’t know how! Can anyone point me in the right direction?

My site has been live with Magento since May 08.
We upgraded as far as 1.01.19870, then because it wasn’t a straight forward upgrade have sat there since.

During the Christmas break I created a dev sub domain and installed version 1.1.8 to develop and test it and then switchover to the main site.

Then, about 2 days later, the 1.2 versions arrived. I did no more with 1.1.8 and it sat there happily with a few imported products for the last month.

Yesterday, to have a look at 1.2.1 I created a dev2 sub domain and uploaded latest magento. When I ran through the install wizard it would not complete (could not access the new database with the user name and password).

When I checked the main site it was broken – re-directing to a blank page and a url of /report/?id=xxxxxx. I checked the forums, found some info about permissions causing this symptom, reduced 777 on app, var and media to 644 and the redirect changed to /downloader.

I deleted the databases and users that had been created for dev and dev2.

That’s where we sit now. I can restore from server backups, but I’d like to move forward to at least 1.1.8. So, I’m planning to spend today moving in that direction – should I just click and run the downloader that it’s redirecting to OR should I do something manually?

database sits with my site contents at version 1.01.19870
dev contains all files for 1.1.8
dev2 contains all files for 1.2.1
