Trying to install oscommerce migration tool, and am getting the error “Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /magento/downloader/pearlib/php/OS/Guess.php on line 245”. I’ve installed magento on a test server b4 putting it on a live server for testing purposes. Test server is a linux box with xampp. As far as I can tell, all permissions are set to 777.

Build time: 20 hours
Version: 1.2.0.3
Kana Cuban Coffee Roasters chose Magento for its extremely easy back-end interface and unlimited growth potential. We originally had the project setup by an outside company under version 1.1.6 with many customizations which were half implemented. When it came to upgrade the whole system crashed and we had to start completely over. That was two days ago and we had our site down for little over a complete day. With a fresh new start, we decided to undertake the challenge with our in house designer, Christopher Neetz. He was able to get the site up and running very quickly with more features than were originally implemented. We are very pleased and look forward to recommending Magento as a great e-commerce solution.

I’m selling my products out of 15 different brick and mortar stores. I want website users to pick a location before navigating to a specific product page since the inventory levels for each product are different between the stores (we don’t ship between stores).
I was under the assumption that I should create 15 (Magento) stores; one for each of my brick and mortar stores. However, it doesn’t appear as though I can control inventory at the store-level.
So here are my questions:
1) Am I able to control inventory at the store-level? Or is there a module to do that?
2) If not, does anyone know of an available module that forces users to pick a location? Picking a location can (in theory) happen at any point in the process, but I will need to display inventory levels accordingly.
Thanks in advance. And my apologies for posting this thread in the wrong forum.

I tried using MC to upgrade my site (still in build and test) so no production yet.
Some errors appeared (i cant rememeber what they were) and now all pages end in HTTP 500 errors.
My other sites on the server are fine.
I can restore a backup. Mysql restart has had no effect.
Any ideas what to try before a restore is actioned?

I need a solution (or an alternative methodology) for the following problem. Our shop sells auto parts and we need to be able to sort them according to Year, Make, and Model. Our current approach has been to create three attributes (vehicle_year, vehicle_make, vehicle_model) and combine them into a single attribute set for use in layered navigation.
Year and Make don’t present much of a problem. There’s only about 100 values for vehicle_year and about 250 values for vehicle_make. The problem is vehicle_model. There are about 3800 possible vehicle models, and I simply can’t get Magento to load them all. I’ve manually entered over 1000 values at this point, but the process just continues to crash whenever I try to add more values or edit the existing ones.
Can anyone think of a solution for getting all 3800 values input, or is there a better approach we should be taking?
I’ve wondered about the possibility of having the attribute values come from an XML file… any bright ideas?

I’m in the process of moving my store over to Magento and sell a number of audio and data CD products. CD-fulfillment can produce a wide range of different styled and packaged CDs and DVDs and can fulfill them world wide. They provide glossy color inkjet printed discs in an envelope for around $4.00 and you can add on more options, like an amaray case with color insert for a few more dollars.
Basically, the extension will send all your orders for discs to CD-fulfillment after payment has been collected and the invoice marked completed. For each disc, you will need to create a simple product with a SKU that corresponds to the CD-fulfillment project number (they assign a project number for each disc you have and each project can vary in the options you choose to have added on to the basic disc).
Right now, I’m fronting the entire cost of the project, but am looking for others who would be interested in contributing to the cost in exchange for access to the code. Let me know if there’s any interest and we can get in touch.

I have checked the featurelist (Analytics and Reporting) + looked into the demo version thats up too. It gives me a basic idea, but that is just about it so I hoped someone could help be clear up some more direct questions of how extensive the statistics/reports can be?
Specific product reports :
There is total reports and best sellers, but is there a way to check the total sale of a specific product in a choosen period of time, as in;
The sold amount of Products X = XXX
Product X sold a total for = ????$
Product Category reports :
Can you get an report of the total sale of all the products in a specific category, as in;
camera bodys (canon, nikon, sony) = ????$
camera lenses (canon, nikon, sony, etc) = ????$
Custommer :
When you look at a custommer (aka manage custommer) you can choose recent orders, is these a total of the order and/or does it also show exactly what each order contained of?
Sales Report:
How indeapth/advanced are these? Only totaly or does it list each products too during the period you choose?
Hope someone can help me out, I tried to get as much info. as I could, but the demo shop don’t really help out much in this subjects since it’s not a “active” store and that is understandable.

I have a bundled product that consists of some simple product.
The only information that is visible in the page of the bundled product is the name of the simple product and its price.
Is there a way to show more attributes on this page or link to another page that show the information about the simple product?
(The simple product is not visible in its own since it can be sold only in a bundle)
