During the Connect Manager upgrade phase the sytem tries to create directories that are on another domain. The directory creation fails thus does my upgrade from 1.1.6 to 1.1.8.
This is a test server and I did a database duplication from my live site. Its actually trying to upgrade the files to the live server instead of the test server. The paths seem messed up. Not sure where I can change my files to make it upgrade on the test server which has its own domain and a duplication of the live server database.

My first installation of MAGENTO was the last week of the release 1.1.7 and I have never updated it.
Could you please, tell me which is the best and more simple way to update MAGENTO to 1.1.8?

In an effort to fix the “no image uploading on mac” issue, I just upgraded to 1.17 and suddenly found my product grids have gone from a clean 3-stack to a total mess.
Has anyone gotten this issue after upgrading and know how to fix?

I’ve just updated two installs – neither of which are live just yet, and noticed that one site in particular now seems to be seriously struggling with database queries. In an attempt to resolve this, I’ve tried to check and optimise the tables from my host’s sql manager. When I run a check on either site (both on completely different hosting providers), there are 50+ mysql table index key errors, ie.
etc, etc. On one of the hosts, any attempt to optimise the table results in the sql server stalling altogether.
Is this a known issue? I’m reasonably familiar with mysql, but not sufficiently competent to say that this is definitely wrong – but certainly seems that way to me?! Is this the upgrade process gone astray, or is this just an issue with the way Magento is routinely coded?

After upgrading to Magento v 1.1.7 the product chooser stopped working.
At this url: http://www.domain.com/index.php/admin/promo_quote/new/
When you go to conditions then: Add condition “Product attribute combination” -> Product Attribute -> SKU -> is -> Open chosser
It gives this javascript error:
this.updateElement is null

I have never done an upgrade before and am concerned that all my work may be lost.
I have done basic customization stuff to the Magento Cart so far, as that’s all I am capable of. The site is still in an early design stage, so I thought better to upgrade now than latter?
In admin/manage products/add images the ‘Browse Files’ and ‘Upload Files’ buttons do not do anything when I click them, I read that the new upload will solve this problem.

Here is another problem with Google Base API.
After you create create attribute for your google base account and map it with your catalog, then go to Manage items under Google Base. click on view available products, select some products, change action to “Add to Google Base” then click on submit after few minutes, if you don’t get any CAPTCHA another line 27 error, your products will be added to the top section of the page under the “Google Base Items” table. Repeat this until you add couple thousand products to your Google base account. Then go to base.google.com and log in to your account. With my experience I submited approx >4100 products in my Magento catalog. When I checked my Google Base account, there was only 2000 Products submited to Google base! I don’t know what happened to the rest of the products. So, I decided to synchronize my Magento with Google base. I returned to Magento Google base –> Manage items, and I clicked on Synchronize. This synch removed almost all products from my Google Base Item box in magento except for 25 items. When I checked my Google base account directly, there was no change in the number of products and it was still showing ~2000 items in Google base. Back to Magento again and I clicked on Synch for the second time. This time it removed all products from “Google Base Item” table, while there was no change in the original google base account. Adding new products to google base via Magento still adds the number of products in google base.
So, as you can see, this entire Google base API is a mess and it is not working properly.
