I got those error messages while importing a .csv, created with Magento:
Do I have to create first the attributesets by hand? `Why isn’t Magento exporting that? I looked up into the CSV – and no additional attribute set data is provided, so it’s logic that that error occurs. But how can I export with the additional attribute set data?

After searching a lot for an ebook for Magento and while many users were asking it, I decided to make my own pdf file, from Magneto User’s Guide.

I thought Magento could do this, can it?
Say if i have a configurable product with different shirt sizes, and the small size sell out, they are not being removed from the drop down menu.

I am trying to install the latest sample data on my host and am getting the following error:
MySQL said: Documentation
#1452 – Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`efriarshop/catalogindex_eav`, CONSTRAINT `FK_CATALOGINDEX_EAV_ENTITY` FOREIGN KEY (`entity_id`) REFERENCES `catalog_product_entity` (`entity_id`) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE)
I’ve installed sample data before without a problem. Did something change with version 1.0.19870?

I try to import some thousand customers from a different system and I wonder how I can do this with the passwords which are currently plain md5 encrypted.
Magento uses a kind of salt technology which is fine but how to import the customers so that they can log in?
Thanks a lot!
Georg
PS: Asking them to ask for a new pwd is not an option
PPS: Rewrite the authorization process and delete all the salt-thing isnt an option either

I’m trying to figure out a way for the logo of the manufacturer to appear on the product page (for all of their products). So basically, If $manuf==”GBC” display image gbc_logo.gif. The visual brand recognition is very important to the product, but I can’t figure out how to get it to appear without adding it to the product image itself. Any ideas?
If I’m not being clear, here is an example from our site where the logo of Olympia is shown before the product name.

My clients getting confused between the difference between pending and processing in the order status. We are only using paypal as a payment procesor and pay by cheque.
Im not too sure myself, my understanding is that pending means the order has been submitted for approval and processing means that the payment has been accepted but not taken from the customer yet. is this right?
does anyone have any links to info that would clarify this?

PHP Version 5.2.6 (CGI/FastCGI)
Magento ver. 1.0.19870.4
I’ve tried many things for different issues over the last couple of days and now I’m thoroughly confused and not sure how to proceed.

I am going to ask my client to send me the products’ images. Is there a recommended size for those images?
I see that I need at least 3 images: thumbnail, small, and base. what sizes (approx., of course) these should be?
I also see that I can put a fairly large image and assign it to be “thumbnail”. does it hurt performance?
Is there a specific ratio of height/width for the images, or anything goes?
